Quite why Tom & I agree to drive to Minack is beyond us, but we'll grudgingly admit to having had some fun really. It all started when I left work at 4pm one Friday afternoon, and went to TDL to load up. Or rather load up some more, as the van was already nearly full when I arrived there. The helpful TDL staff were then amused for two hours while we tried to make all the stuff fit. After grabbing some tea, trying to fix a brake-light on the van, adding fuel and air, picking up a few things from the ADC, we finally left Cambridge at 8pm.

It was already getting dark when we set off, and it took us rather longer than we thought to get to the pyro store to collect the fireworks. We finally got to South Mimms services at around midnight, where we stopped for supper.

A further two and a half hours of night driving on a really rather empty M4 took us as far as Bristol, where we stayed in a travel lodge overnight. (Well, if you count overnight as 3am-5am!)

Up at five and on the road for six, we were somewhat confused to find the M5 closed leaving Bristol, so various detours were made and we rejoined the motorway further south, now somewhat delayed. The M5 soon became the A30 and signs started appearing to lands end, and we made it to Penzance by 10am, finally arriving at Minack almost ontime at 10.30

There are some random but not particularly exciting pictures of the get-in. They're probably quite helpful if you want an idea of what Minack is like though. Sadly they're over 1MB of images, but they do include a fine picture of Kate's amazing hat and of a RudinBodge(tm) so click here if you're on a fast network connection.
